Sarracenia minor
Sarracenia minor is a plant that looks much different than other Sarracenia plants. The hood part of the plant hangs low over the opening. The upper portion of the pitcher also has many white dots, a very neat look!

Welcome to Fly Trap Shop
Welcome to Fly Trap Shop. We've been growing carnivorous plants as a hobby for many years and finally decided to supply people who love these plants as much as we do with beautiful plants for a good price. More plants coming soon, so check back! Plants will generally go out within 1-3 business days using USPS Priority Mail.

Venus Flytrap

Venus flytraps and other carnivorous plants really can be fairly easy to grow.  They need a good light source, nutrient free media (generally a 50:50 mix of peat and perlite is perfect), pure water (reverse osmosis, distilled, rain water), a good amount of humidity typically 50-90% but many can grow well in normal household humidity (this might not apply in very arid regions).   And that's pretty much it!

The temperature range of which they grow in is quite wide, daytime temps of 60-90f are generally ideal.  Temperate plants such as Dionaea (Venus flytraps), Sarracenia (pitcher plants) and some Drosera (sundew) need a dormant period of approximately 3-4 months during the winter.  Tropical plants, such as Nepenthes, (tropical pitcher plant) Byblis and some Drosera need to stay warm all year around. (Highland species of Nepenthes need cool temperatures year around.

Although carnivorous plants do eat insects they do not need to do so to live.  Just like any other plant, chlorophyll in the green parts of the plant makes the "food" it needs.  Insects just add a little more nutrients to their "diet." (and make them fun to grow!)  Especially with the jaw-like snap action of a Venus Fly Trap.  Buy one now!
